MARIETTA - Only one John Glenn wrestler defeated a Marietta wrestler Thursday evening at Marietta Middle School, but the Muskies outnumbered the Tigers, and thus claimed a 54-22 victory.
John Glenn gained 48 of its 54 points against MHS via the forfeit, while the Tigers claimed just a pair of forfeit victories.
"Our kids wrestled well," said Marietta wrestling coach Bill Heldman. "We had some gaps in the lineup, so that makes it hard to win a duel. But we won the majority of our matches."

Marietta’s Josh Clark, top, wrestles Caldwell’s Adam Shockling during a match Thursday evening at Marietta Middle School. Clark won the match via pin.
Josh Clark (106) and Jake Dickson (152) each picked up victories by decision for the Tigers while Zach Hearn (160) and Anthony Winters (170) each won by forfeit.
Garrett Davis moved up a weight class (182) to take on John Glenn's Matt Tom and picked up an 11-3 major decision win.
"Garrett Davis is one of our better wrestlers this year," Heldman said. "He bumped up from 170 to 182 and wrestled a kid from John Glenn and won the match. He gave up a lot of weight. The kid was a lot bigger. (Davis') speed helped him out."
In the 220 match, Luke Larson was able to pin Marietta's Josh Montgomery.
Caldwell also squared off against the Muskies, and while the Redskins were able to put a few more bodies on the mat than Marietta, John Glenn still came away victorious, 45-36.
Caldwell was pinning people left and right, as Tyler Wiley (120), Jason Allen (126), Kolby Rayner (132) and Chance Rucker (285) all won by pinning John Glenn grapplers.
Kameron Rayner (152) defeated John Glenn's Tyler McGee in a major decision and Cody Davis (160) won by forfeit. The Muskies had four forfeit victories in the match and had three pins. Matt Bennett (145) defeated Caldwell's Blake Pickenpaugh by decision.
"We did some good things but we let some matches get away where we were up and had chances to win," said Caldwell head coach Tom Brown. "We're a little banged up. Still trying to get healed up from football season."
Marietta and Caldwell faced off to cap the night, with the Redskins winning 46-24.
Again, the orange and black was hurt by numbers, as Caldwell scored 36 off forfeits to 12 for MHS.
Clark pinned Adam Shockling and Malachi Vaughn (152) defeated Cody Davis via the pin to account for Marietta's other 12 points.
Tyson Cartell (220) pinned Montgomery while Clay Poling (195) defeated Anthony Winters in a major decision.
Marietta will wrestle in a tournament at Gallia Academy on Dec. 27.
"Hopefully we can get some kids back in the lineup," Heldman said.
