Lawrence M. Hamas, 68, of Belpre, Ohio, died Dec. 16, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born July 16, 1945, in Parkersburg, to the late Michael and Maxian (Hoy) Hamas.
Lawrence served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was self-employed as a X-Ray Service Technician. He also worked on the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad as an EMT in Staunton, Va. He was an avid pilot and boater. He spent his spare time working on boats.
He is survived by two daughters, Wendi Hamas-Williams (Mike) of Belpre and Tammy Carpenter of Williamstown; four grandchildren, Ethan, Isabella and Amelia Williams, all of Belpre, and Aaron Carpenter of Parkersburg; one great-grandson, Aaron Brantley Carpenter; foster mother, Lucy Ferrell of Parkersburg; two foster brothers, Randy Ferrell (Debbie) of Parkersburg and Gary Ferrell; foster niece, Lia Renner; and two foster nephews, Kris Ferrell and Davey Ferrell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster father, Dave Ferrell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Parkersburg, with the Rev. David Carpenter officiating and full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 15.
