Clarence L. "Hopper" Roy, 86, Racine, Ohio, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Dec. 14, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1927, in Racine, he was the son of the late Claude W. and Martha Marie Myers.
He was a retired supervisor from the General Telephone Company with 32 years of service, and later retired from Dravo Corporation. He was a member of the Racine-Pomeroy Lodge 164, F. & A.M., and an active member of Meigs County Senior Citizens. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Inez Marie Warner on Aug. 25, 1952, in Shawnee, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2007.
Surviving is his son, Rex (Lisa) Roy, Little Hocking, Ohio; daughter, Nancy Roy, Albuquerque, N.M.; grandson, Christopher Roy, Little Hocking; sister, Betty (Bob) Pooler, Middleport, Ohio; sister-in-law, Hazel Roy, Racine; brother-in-law, Arthur "Tom" (Janet) Warner, Racine; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Roy and infants, Claude William Roy Jr. and Jimmy Roy.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine. Officiating will be Pastor Ryan Eaton. Interment will follow at a later date in Letart Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services starting at 8 p.m.
