RIPLEY- A single-vehicle accident on Interstate 77 in Jackson County disrupted northbound traffic Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the 155 milepost in the northbound lane of I-77, officials said.
Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs said the single-vehicle accident remained under investigation Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported. The cause and circumstances of the accident were not known, but the vehicle is believed to have rolled over and then caught fire after coming to rest in the northbound passing lane.
Traffic was stopped until fire crews could extinguish it, Boggs said.
The driver was listed as Amy Conley, no age or address available, and there were three children under the age of 6 in the vehicle, but no injuries occurred, Boggs said. However, Conley was taken into custody by deputies due to her actions following the accident and she was charged with one count of obstructing an officer, he said.
