Ruth Lenore (DeLong) Jackson, 89, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 3, 2013.
Ruth was born in Sistersville, W.Va., on Nov. 25, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary DeLong.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, David, Harry and Bill.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Ken) Ice, David (Charlotte) Howard and Peggy Connor; seven grandchildren, Carol (Dave) Fouse, Paul Ice, Sara (Tim) Stone, David Howard and Amy Good; and eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Chaney, Caleb, Jacob and Levi Stone, Michael Richards, Sadie Howard and Kaitlyn Rene Wright. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Helen DeLong, Betty DeLong and DeLyte DeLong; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She loved her family and friends. She was a very strong-willed woman and a very loving mother and grandmother. She loved to travel to her favorite place, Dolly Sods, in the Allegheny Mountains, and loved nature. She enjoyed her flower gardens and feeding the birds in her backyard.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ruth has chosen to donate her body to WVU.
A Celebration Service will be held in her honor and will be announced at a later date.
