Samuel Edward Phillips, 83, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Dec. 5, 2013, at Ohio Valley Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Belleville, W.Va., to the late Tony and Ruth Phillips.
After graduating high school, Samuel joined the United States Air Force where he retired after 21 years as a chief master sargent and then retired from John Mansville after 11 years working as a machine operator. He was a member of the Lubeck Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl "Ilene" Phillips of Washington; son, Michael E. Phillips of Washington; grandchildren, Marc A. Phillips (Stephanie) of Morgantown, W.Va., Jennifer Rich (Max) of Hope Mills, N.C., and Jason Camaioni; and a special sister-in-law; Bernice McPherson of Little Hocking, Ohio. He is also proceeded in death by daughter, Diane Wilson; and one infant daughter.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lubeck Church of Christ with Evangelist David Newberry officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. till the time of service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
