Thomas G. Carpenter

Thomas "Tom" G. Carpenter, 79, St. Marys, husband of Ruth Ann Lamp Carpenter for 53+ years, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

Born on April 2, 1934, in Pleasants County, W.Va., he was a son of the late Dewey and Caroline Ogdin Carpenter.

He was a 1953 graduate of St. Marys High School, was a retired Pipefitter, and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 565, the Masonic Lodge 41 A.F. & A.M. and the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Tom was recently recognized for 60 years of service with the St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department. He had a fondness of the Ohio River and helping family and friends. Tom enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren life lessons and watching them succeed. He also loved gardening and raising cattle.

Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Liz Eddy and Jennifer (Rick) Hupp; four grandchildren, Tabatha, Christine, Erika and Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Greyson, Liam and Ally; one brother, Dave Carpenter; one sister, Sally Bogard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Carpenter.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Rex Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
