Oliver T. Armstrong, Jr., 54, cab driver and long time resident of Memphis, died at his home, Nov. 16, 2013, after a short illness.
He leaves behind his wife, Monica Compton-Armstrong; one son, Steven Compton-Armstrong; five step-daughters, Nettie Belle Slack, Ginny Kay Herron, Cresta Lee Bunt, all of Ohio, and Rosalea and Jasmine Bond of Memphis. He also leaves behind his mother, Carlene M. Armstrong of Memphis; and a sister, Sue Ellan Hamner of Hernando, Miss. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Michael Armstrong. He has six grandchildren, Steven, Jordan and Allie Herron, Kiara and Kaleb Gindelsberger and Zuree Slack, all of Ohio. He leaves behind his in-laws, David and Judy Compton, of Oakland, Tenn., Tina and Dale Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., Marvin and Cheryl Compton of Bartlett, Tenn., Ranee Stewart and David West of Byhalia, Miss., Margaret Cox-Mensi of Oakland, Tenn., Jon Compton of Oakland, Tenn., and Rachel Hatley of Memphis, Tenn.; along with 29 nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at High Point Funeral Home & Crematorium. Visitation 5-6 p.m., with the memorial service at 6 p.m.
