PARKERSBURG -City council and its personnel committee will meet tonight to discuss possible changes in employee salaries, including higher base pay for the city's finance director.
The personnel committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the small conference room on the second floor of the Municipal Building in dowtown Parkersburg. The regular council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the large council chambers. Both meetings are open to the public.
The personnel committee will discuss two items. The first is a review of salaries for all employee positions. The second is an update on the chief inspector position in the Parkersburg Fire Department.
City council is expected to vote on two items at tonight's meeting, both of them second and final readings of ordinances. The first is a reclassification of the city's finance director, which would increase the base salary for the position to $55,000-$60,000.
Director Angie Smith announced Oct. 12 she would step down to take another position within the city's development department. Darcie Dyke has been named as acting finance director.
Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell has said he wants to seek an outside hire for the finance director position and a higher base salary is necessary to attract a qualified candidate.
