Artie E. (Jean) Life, 89, of Belpre, Ohio, died on Nov. 10, 2013, at the Arcadia Nursing Home in Coolville.
She was born in Jackson County, W.Va., on Oct. 26, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Harold and Ada Robbins Shutts.
She spent all her life in Belpre. She retired from Kroger Company in 1981 after 35 years of service. She was a past State President of the Eagle Auxiliary in Parkersburg. She volunteered at the Camden Clark Hospital. She was a member of the Belpre Nazarene Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Oshel Shutts of Belpre and Raymond Shutts of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews; one step-son, Billy Life of Keysville, Ga.; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren of Keysville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis D. Life of 37 years; two sisters, Helen Kidder and Ireta Holbert; and one brother, Olin Shutts.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Will Neff officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
