Paul L. Smith, 81, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Oct. 22, 2013, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Spencer, W.Va., the son of the late E. L. and Ella Greenleaf Smith.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and had retired from E. I. DuPont after many years of service. He was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie E. Simmons Smith of Washington, W.Va.; his daughters, Amy Perkins (Tom) of Parkersburg and Susan Halley of Belpre, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jennifer Perkins of Parkersburg, Joshua Perkins (Danielle) of Washington, W.Va., Jonathan Perkins (Nancy) of Mineral Wells, Tina Perkins (Jamie) of Washington, W.Va., Amanda Gunn (Skip) of Vienna, and Nick Halley (Karen) of Vienna; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funerel services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Rev. David Calvert officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemtery at Mineral Wells, W.Va., with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
