Burnita Showalter, 90, of Williamstown, passed away 4:48 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 23, 1923 on Buck Run in Ritchie County, W.Va., to Guy and Ollie (Poole) Dotson.
Burnita was a graduate of Williamstown High School and had worked at a S.S. Kresge Department Store, and at the telephone company as an operator before staying home to raise her family. She was a member of the Riverside Church of Christ and loved to do needle point and read.
Surviving are her children, Steven and Terry Showalter, both of Williamstown; along with several nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, a brother, James Dotson, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with Bill Bowen and Bob Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. today, with the family present from 4-8 p.m.
