BELPRE - In honor of those fighting and those lost to breast cancer, the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department is selling bright pink T-shirts.
"Because not only is Fire Prevention Week the first week of October, but this is also Breast Cancer Awareness month, we decided to do something to join the two," said Belpre Fire Chief Eric Sinnett. "This gives our firefighters the chance to honor those who had or have breast cancer."
The T-shirts are bright pink and have "Belpre Fire Rescue" written across the back in white letters.

Belpre Fire Chief Eric Sinnett holds up a pink T-shirt the department is selling throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month with proceeds going to the Strecker Cancer Center facility in Belpre.
Orders for the shirts are being taken now through the end of the month for all sizes, with an emphasis on larger sizes.
Shirts are $10 with $1.50 from each sale being donated to the Strecker Cancer Center facility at the Marietta Memorial Hospital Belpre campus, Sinnett said.
"Each shirt costs us $8.50, so the rest of the money we collect from the sales will go directly to help the cancer center do what they do best," the chief said.
Sinnett said people have often asked him how they can get a fire department shirt and this sale not only gets them what they wanted, but also helps others.
"It's just our way of helping a little," he said. "I have no idea how much we will end up donating, but if it's $25 or $250, it all helps some."
To order a T-shirt, call the department at (740) 423-9681 or stop by the main station at 704 Washington Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
