Barbara Lee Jobes, 70 of Pittsburg, Kan., died at 1:43 a.m. Oct. 9, 2013, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
She was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Monroe, Mich., the daughter of Eldon and Carolyn (Glor) Skidmore.
She has been a resident of the Pittsburg area for nearly 50 years. Barbara was raised in Arcadia, Kan., where she attended elementary and was a graduate of Arcadia High School.
Barbara married Jerry Jobes in 1969 in Miami, Okla.; he survives at the home.
She was a homemaker, raising five children. During her free time, Barbara enjoyed painting, ceramics, reading books, crafting, sewing and electronics. Barbara was also a volunteer for nearly 30 years working at Pittsburg Public Library for the Crawford County Genealogical Society.
Survivors include her husband Jerry of the home; two sons, Mark Engle and wife, Julie, of Frontenac and Kelly Jobes and wife, Angie, of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Kathy Newman of Springfield, Mo., and Amy Carl and husband, Barry, of North Platte, Neb.; a brother, Gary Skidmore and wife, Jean, of Belton, Mo.; a sister, Carol Lawrence of Grandview, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Tamie Engle.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at Sheffield Cemetery, rural Arcadia, Kan., with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery. Following the services, the family will receive friends at St. Mary's Colgan Activity Center at 212 East Ninth St. in Pittsburg.
