Charles P. Kidder, 94, of Belpre, Ohio passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Wirt County, W.Va. on Feb. 13, 1919, the son of the late Harry and Daisy (Nutter) Kidder. He proudly served in the Army and was a recipitent of the Purple Heart as one of five brothers serving in WWII.
He retired after 33 years from Johns Manville Co. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing, Western Movies, attending the Bible Baptist Church of Bartlett, Ohio and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son Howard (Joann) Kidder of Michigan, daughters, Monit Fox and Karen (Larry) Moore of Belpre and daughter-in-law Beverly Kidder of Washington, W.Va., seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his friend and companion Shirley Hall of Bartlett, Ohio, her daughter Dinah (Greg) Barker, and son Terry Hall. Also surviving are three brothers, Wallace Kidder of Stockport, Ohio, Bob (Joyce) Kidder of Cutler, Ohio, Hollie (Rita) Kidder Belpre, Ohio, two sisters, Nellie Bush and Edna Mae Lowe of Belpre.
He was married to Irene Bever Kidder for 65 years who preceded him in death in May of 2005. Also preceding him in death are a son Lloyd Paul Kidder, son in law Roger L. Fox, three grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Jack Berry and Reverend Dean Ash officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m. Military Services will be conducted by Post #15 of the American Legion, Parkersburg.
