RIPLEY - A Parkersburg couple were arrested this week on charges relating to the death of their infant son in Jackson County.
Jessica and Shawn Souther were arrested Monday by Marietta police in Marietta on outstanding warrants from Jackson County charging them with child neglect resulting in death, said Jackson County Chief Deputy H. Saber.
The couple waived extradition and were returned to Jackson County, Saber said.
The couple's 21-month-old son was ejected from a vehicle during an Aug. 20 accident on I-77 near Kenna.
Saber said Jessica, 31, was driving while Shawn, 39, was a passenger. Although the child was in a child safety seat, it is believed the seat wasn't properly buckled in the vehicle, officials said.
The couple were placed in the South Central Regional Jail. They are both listed as being imprisoned as pre-trial felons.
They are being held on $250,000 bond each.
