Elizabeth Hoover (Brooks) Hawkins, 94, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Thursday Oct. 3, 2013, at The Willows.
She was born in Dunden, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lee Frederick and Ina Mae (Davis) Brooks.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Miriam-Priscilla Circle. She was an active volunteer in her previous church Hendricks Memorial United Methodist Church in Florida. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist (mainly oils and water colors), and had always had rescue animals.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lee Sanders (Wayne) of Parkersburg; son, Gary B. Hawkins (Donna) of Elkview, W.Va.; daugher-in-law, Linda Hawkins of Corona, Calif.; five grandchildren, Denise Hawkins Hernandez of Corona, Calif., Rev. Philip Sanders of Emporium, Pa., Patrick Sanders (Beth) of Rockville, Md., Stephanie Smith (Bryan) of Gainsville, Fla.; and Elizabeth L. Hawkins of Elkview, W.Va.; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin, Drew, DeVonne, Chrissy and Jenny. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carroll Hawkins; son, Richard Hawkins; infant son, Timothy Hawkins; infant daughter, Nancy Hawkins; twin brother, William Madison Brooks; and two sisters, Dorothy L. Brooks and Virginia Brooks White.
Services will be Monday, 1 p.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Mike Seely officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 2-5 p.m., and Monday one hour prior to the service.
