MARIETTA - The city of Marietta will experience a water interruption starting Monday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., officials said.
The Reno Volunteer Fire Department will be flushing the city's fire hydrants. The fire department will start on County House Lane and follow Ohio 7 toward Reno, including in the Reno area.
To flush the hydrants, it is necessary to purge the water mains of accumulated mineral deposits that have built up over a period of time. The flush provides valuable information such as flow rates to fight fires and maintenance problems the city might not otherwise be aware of.
It is expected to be complete by Monday night, officials said. The public is advised to be attentive while driving in the area and watch for water on roads.
After flushing is complete, customers who are experiencing brown, discolored or milky water are asked to flush their cold water lines to flush the service line from the main to their point of use in their home or business.
If problems persist, contact the city of Marietta Water Treatment Plant at (740) 374-6864 or Reno Water at (740) 373-8859, depending on who provides the service.
