Lois Jean Bledsoe Winters, 77, of Ripley, passed away on Sept. 30, 2013, surrounded by her family. She had a long and courageous battle with pulmonary Fibrosis.
Lois was born on Nov. 13, 1935 in Huntington, and was the daughter of the late Elba Moses (Doc) and Virginia Mae (Ginny) Bledsoe.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph B. (Ike) Bledsoe and David L. Bledsoe.
She was a proud graduate of Wayne High School and Marshall University. She taught first grade at Ripley Elementary School before moving to Ripley Middle School, where she retired after more than 30 years of service. Former students and fellow teachers shared many exciting and memorable moments in "Mrs. Winters" classroom. She loved teaching and the classroom was her stage. After retirement, she continued service to others as she provided care for her mother, her late brother, "Ike", and friends.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rod (Tammy) Winters and Roger (Jane) Winters, and her grandchildren, Zack, Spencer, Parker and Lauren.
Lois was blessed with many wonderful friends and a caring family and many thanks are given to those who shared in her life. She loved living life through her grandchildren and nothing pleased her more than to see them all together.
