PARKERSBURG - Four hearings on motions were heard Tuesday in Wood County Circuit Court.
* Robert Lamar Bates-Porter, 26, 1612 Hill St., Parkersburg, was to appear in court for a hearing to continue his trial to another date. His attorney said he did not know Bates-Porter's whereabouts at the time of the hearing. Judge J.D. Beane granted a motion from the state for a capias for Bates-Porter if he did not appear before 4 p.m. He appeared later, the capias was withdrawn and Beane granted the state's motion to continue the trial to Jan. 8, 2014. Bates-Porter was indicted by the January2013 grand jury on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, with intent to deliver.
* James Patino Haddox, 37, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, appeared for a hearing to assign an attorney to his case. He qualified for a court-appointed attorney and Rolf Baumgartner was appointed. An arraignment was set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 before Beane. Haddox was indicted by the September 2011 grand jury on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, cocaine, and one count each of possession of a controlled substance with intent to delivery, marijuana, and conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance.
* Michael James Lamp, 55, 615 17th St., Parkersburg, was granted a motion for a new trial date that was granted by Judge Robert Waters. His new trial was set for Oct. 16. He was indicted by the May 2013 grand jury on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, marijuana, and delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a public elementary school.
* Brian David Wise, 27, 1851 Celia St., Parkersburg, was granted a new trial date after he refused a plea agreement from the state. His new trial date was set for Jan. 8, 2014 before Beane. He was indicted by the May 2013 grand jury on one count of delivery of a controlled substance, amphetamine, and three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, marijuana.
