Charles McDonald

Charles William McDonald, 91, of Belpre, Ohio, died Sept. 19, 2013, at the Harmar Place in Marietta.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on Dec. 14, 1921 and was the son of the late William and Blanche Zellers McDonald. He had been Plant Manager of the O'Ames Plant #1 for several years and retired April 30, 1982 as the assistant to the Vice President with 24 years of service. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and was an Army Air Corps veteran having served during World War II. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, bowling, listening to music and loved traveling around the world.

Survivors include his wife Rosalie McDonald; three sons, David (Patty) McDonald of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Kevin (Diane) McDonald of Vincent, Ohio, Ryan (Sue) McDonald of Parkersburg, and a daughter, Barbara Vance of Lancaster, Ohio. Three stepchildren, James Hughey of Marietta, Ohio, Valorie (Richard) Adams of Cutler, Ohio, Robert (Johanna) Hughey of Long Beach, Miss.; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Geraldine McDonald, two sisters and a brother.

Services will be on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Chad Emrick (assistant Chaplain of the United States Coast Guard). Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of the services. Military rites will be conducted by Post #15 of the Parkersburg American Legion.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Marietta Housecall/Hospice.
