MORGANTOWN - Coming off of back-to-back losses the University of Texas (1-2, 0-0 Big 12) and its embattled head coach Mack Brown enter Big 12 Conference play against a Kansas State (2-1, 0-0 Big 12) program which has had the Longhorns' number of late.
"It was just inconsistency," Brown said during Monday's Big 12 Teleconference. "We didn't start out as well as we needed to."
Texas is coming off of a 44-23 setback at the hands of SEC member Mississippi State.
"We've got to go back and show them (the players) what they need to improve upon. We've got to pound the positives and let them understand that we're not as far away (from being a good team) as it seems to be."
Adding to that problem, however, is a Wildcat team that has had an extra week to prepare for their conference opener.
"Our players are more concerned with our own preparations that what has happened in the past," head coach Bill Snyder said. "What I see (in Texas) are players that are playing hard. A scheme that is working. I see them getting closer to the way they want to play."
