Sgt. J.D. Hart with the Parkersburg Police Department said the driver of the Buick was traveling north on Avery Street when the person ran the red light and crashed with the Mitsubishi, sending that driver to the hospital.
After the initial collision, the Buick came to rest in front of the bank, after striking the sign out front, police said.
There was no estimate on the damage to the property. Police were withholding the names of the drivers on Wednesday night.
The driver of the Buick was cited for running a red light.
A portion of Avery Street near Eighth Street was blocked for a while after the accident.
