Rev. Rymer Dale Davis, 81, of Charleston passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Rymer was born on Oct. 20, 1931 in Parkersburg, W.Va. to the late Coy and Pansy Davis.
He was a minister serving with the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the West Virginia Annual Conference. When he was a student in seminary he served with the New Jersey Conference, and later served eight years with the Troy (Upper New York) Conference. He also retired from the W.Va. Bureau of Employment Programs. Rymer worked with Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home as a funeral attendant for the past several years. He worked up until his recent illness. He was always on time and eager to do whatever necessary to help out.
Rymer was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and attended Marietta College. He graduated from WV Wesleyan College and Temple University School of Theology. He attended the doctoral program at Drew University in Madison, N.J.
He was a member of the WV Masonic Lodge # 158, Chelyan, W.Va.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Dale Davis who passed on Sept. 11, 2009.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Beulah Burge Davis, and son, Thomas Rymer Davis, both of Charleston, W.Va.; brother, Doy R. Davis of Vero Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Christ Church United Methodist, Charleston. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, W.Va.
The family will receive family and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home.
