Martin Steed Jr.

Martin VanBuren "Bud" Steed Jr., 69, of Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born at Rockland, Ohio, a son of the late Martin V. Steed Sr. and Jessie Luella Smith Steed.

Martin was a graduate of Williamstown High School and was a self employed Carpenter.

Martin was a 32 degree Mason being a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #172, AF & AM. He had served as Grand Master in 1985, served as District Deputy Grand Master from 1996-1997, had served on the West Virginia Grand Lodge Jurisprudence Committee and was a member of the Nemesis Shrine.

He was also a master Gardener and enjoyed Woodworking.

Surviving is his wife, Winona Houser Steed; one son, Fredrick "Freddie" (Kristi) Steed of Cairo; three daughters, Tracey Steed, Mary J. (fiance John Sprague) Steed and Sara Steed, all of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one expected in November; one brother, Arlis (Kay) Steed of Waverly and a sister, Patricia Evans of Parkersburg and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Burney and a brother, Gary Steed.

There will be a Masonic Graveside service held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen North Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg from 1-8 p.m. today.
