Homer Erwin Jones Jr., 65, of Route 2 Elizabeth, passed away Sept. 8, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1948, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Homer Erwin and Florence Elaine White Jones.
Homer was a graduate of Wirt County High School and was a salesman with Homer's Specialty Building Products of Mineral Wells. He had served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation and enjoyed hunting, fishing and his bass boat.
Surviving is his wife, Sharon Kay Houchin Jones; one son, Matthew (his fiancee, Taylor Scott) Jones of Newark; one daughter, Melissa (Chris) Speece of Newark; two grandchildren, Trevor Jones and Isabella Speece; his sister, Doris Eileen (Wayne) Lynch of Greenwood, W.Va.; a niece, Carrie (Jason) Senft of Fairmont; and a brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Marge Houchin of Williamstown.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. Pastor Dwight Brohard will officiate and burial will follow at Fought Cemetery at Newark. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and an hour prior to the service on Thursday.
