Alice Marie Johnson, 86, of Parkersburg, died on Sunday, Aug. 25, at The Willows Center.
She was born March 19, 1927 in Ellenboro, W.Va., to the late Romeo and Mary (Hyde) Boner.
Alice was an avid bowler in the senior leagues at Emerson Lanes for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was known as the "Domino Queen", at the Willows, because she would teach people, young and old, how to play the game. She loved Elvis and enjoyed watching him in concert when he was in the area.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra L. Brunson (Ted) of Parkersburg; five sons, Rodney A. Roberts of Parkersburg, Brian Roberts (Kathy) of W. Bridgewater, Mass., Dennis D. Roberts Jr. of Huntington, W.Va., James E. Johnson Jr. of Charleston, W.Va., and Charles E. Johnson of St. Albans, W.Va.; two granddaughters, April Holliday and Amanda Brunson; one grandson, Rodney Roberts, Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Holliday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy and Franklin Boner; three sisters, Garnet Boner, Helen Stedman and Winnie Miller; and one daughter-in-law, Diane Roberts.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or Stroke Association.
The funeral service will be Thursday, Aug. 29, beginning at 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Eric Leeson officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
