Mary Louise Snyder Cogar, 72, of Parkersburg, passed away July 28, 2013, at Marietta Care and Rehab, following a long illness.
She was born March 30, 1941, in Gandeeville, W.Va., a daughter to the late Hoyt and Gatha Snyder.
She was a graduate of Walton High School, a homemaker and a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She was previously a volunteer at Camden Clark Medical Center, enjoyed painting, word search puzzles and doing crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Russell Cogar; three brothers, William Snyder, Earnest Snyder and Earl Snyder; and one sister, Cora Snyder.
She is survived by four sisters, Freda Hunt (Russ) of Parkersburg, Janet Holden (Mike) of Marietta, Gladys Walker of Burg Hill, Ohio, and Dorothy Davis of St. Albans; one brother, Harry Snyder (Joann) of Washington, W.Va.; along with several nieces and nephews.
She left behind her children, who were raised apart from her in foster care, Katrina Godbey (Dana) of Clay County, Sherry Cavender (Larry) of Poca, Betty Strickland (Don) of Kenna, Mark Ray (Rhonda) of Walton, Charles Ray (Missy) of Roane County, and Ella Reed (Mike) of Harrisville; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
