PARKERSBURG - The Downtown Farmers' Marketplace on Friday will celebrate its fourth annual Christmas in July.
The marketplace at Blennerhassett Park will become a winter wonderland as vendors decorate their booths in holiday decor. Patrons are encouraged to vote for their favorite table display at the information booth.
In addition to bragging rights, the vendor who wins the People's Choice Award will win dinner for two at Spats in the Blennerhassett Hotel, courtesy of the hotel.

The Blennerhassett also will be promoting its annual Festival of Trees at the marketplace. Organizers are looking to expand the event this year and will be encouraging residents to sponsor a tree during the yuletide event.
Proceeds from the sale of the trees are donated to Easter Seals Disability Services. Representatives from Easter Seals will be on hand to talk about the organization.
Market organizers also will give away free snow cones while supplies last at the information booth where patrons can register to win one of three market bags filled with goodies from the vendors. Prizes include fresh-baked goods, soap, jewelry, arts and crafts, flowers and coupons redeemable for produce.
Other activities for children include a kids craft table sponsored by the Wood County Master Gardeners and a face painting station courtesy of the Parkersburg Actors Guild.
Kiki Angelos will be cooking in the kitchen in the Cooking 'N the Kitchen program.

"More produce is usually available in the month of July than any other month throughout the season," said Rickie Yeager, city planner for the city of Parkersburg and an organizer of the marketplace. "This event, like other Christmas in July celebrations, is designed to help small businesses in the community. In the Market's case, we want to help support our local growers and vendors."
In the future, organizers plan to expand the event to include other small businesses in downtown Parkersburg, he said.
The Market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Third and Market streets. The schedule is the kids craft table from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., face painting station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., balloon animals from 11 a.m. to noon and Cooking 'N the Kitchen at noon.
