Dick Spindle, 70, passed away on July 9, 2013, at Huntington Hospital in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Dick was born on Dec. 23, 1942, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to the late Ray and Gladys Spindle.
He graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1960, where he was a member of the Big Red football team. He attended Marshall University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Epsilon fraternity and earned a degree at Allen Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif. His initial employment was with the Boeing Corporation at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., and Seattle, Wash., during the space race. Later, he was employed in management with The Garrett-AirResearch Corporation in Torrance, Calif., Honeywell International in Phoenix, Ariz., and Torrance, Calif. He was a member of the Cliff Garrett Retiree Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Stephanie Lane Spindle.
Dick is survived by his wife, Sandra Cappellari Spindle of Huntington Beach, Calif., and his son, Gregory Brent Spindle of Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Advantage Mortuary in Huntington Beach, Calif. Burial was held at The Good Shepard Cemetery in Huntington Beach, Calif., on July 13, 2013.
