William Frances (Ike) Smith

William Frances (Ike) Smith, 94, of Cutler, Ohio, died July 19, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on April 30, 1919, the son of John Thomas Smith and Anna Elizabeth Burrows Smith.

Ike was a graduate of PHS class of 1938. He was also a veteran of World War II. While stationed in Connecticut, he met and married Barbara V. (Bobbie) O'Connor of New Haven, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage. He retired from Tri State Roofing Company and was a member of Sheet Metal Local 33. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, farming, playing horseshoes and gardening. Ike especially enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ike was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Little Hocking, Ohio, and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; son, William Michael Smith; and was the last of his immediate family, having survived his three brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by one daughter, Bernadette (George) Marinchak; son, John T. (Linda) Smith, with whom he made his home; daughter-in-law, Diane; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. At the request of Ike, there will be no visitation or services.
