Ruth V. Moore Hughes, 89, formerly of Elizabeth, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2013, at Amber Park Assisted Living in Pickerington, Ohio, where she and her husband, Charles, have resided for the last four years.
She was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Wirt County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lundy R. and Clara Boice Moore.
She was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School, and was a member of Belpre Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles F. Hughes Sr.; one son, Charles Franklin Hughes Jr. (Frank) and his wife, Jeanne, of Slate Creek, W.Va.; two daughters, Charlene Miller and her husband, David, of Pickerington, Ohio, and VaDonna Jean (Jeannie) Terrell and her husband, Jeffrey, of Mooresville, N.C.; four grandsons, Matthew Miller and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Apex, N.C., Eric Miller and his wife, Lisa, of Hilliard, Ohio, Jonathan Terrell of Greensboro, N.C., and Jacob Terrell of Huntersville, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Rose Miller and Evie Wren Miller of Apex, N.C., and Lila Grace Miller and Luke Andrew Miller of Hilliard, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who were very special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Ken and Glen Moore; and two sisters, Garnet West and her twin sister, Ruby Matheny.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Paul McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and until the time of service on Tuesday.
