Valory E. Adkins

Valory E. Adkins, 68, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away July 19, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with ALS.

She was born Dec. 29, 1944, at Vienna, W.Va., a daughter of the late Russell Sams and Mannette Mulligan Sams.

She was a decorator at Fenton Art Glass for 22 years, retiring in 1999, attended The Peoples Church in Boaz and was a former member of the Red Hatters.

Valory is survived by her husband, Robert Adkins; one daughter, Diane C. Parrish of Coxs Mills, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth G. Adkins of Vienna, W.Va.; one son, David C. Gherke of Sumter, S.C.; three sisters and five brothers; grandchildren, Natasha, Tyler and Nickolas; and great-grandchildren, Kahlen and Dominick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Arlene Grimm; and one brother, Bob Sams.

Visitation for Valory will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV 26105. A private family service will be held at a later date with Pastor Rick Kapple officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, W.Va.
