Orva G. Hendershot, 70, of Davisville, W.Va., departed this life on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Marietta Care & Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness.
Orva was born June 12, 1943, in Wood County, a son of the late Samuel G. and Mildred (McIntire) Hendershot.
Orva was retired after many years of service to the WV Department of Highways where he worked as a laborer and truck driver, and was a member of the Latrobe Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sister, Hazel (Richard) Cozad, Parkersburg; brother, Clayton (Linda) Hendershot, Wood County; nephew, Sam Cozad (Sharon), Mineral Wells, W.Va.; brothers-in-law, Gary Uppole (Kathy) and Howard Uppole (Martha), both of Parkersburg; along with many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina (Uppole) Hendershot; an infant child; and his nephew, Carl Cozad.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evang. Dana Slingluff officiating. Burial will follow in the Middle Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Deerwalk, W.Va. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
