Pastor Matt Weaver, along with his wife, Aimee, and son Jonathan, will be the new pastoral family at the Beverly United Methodist Church. Matt, originally from Akron, Ohio, is returning to the area after serving at Cooks Point United Methodist Church in Caldwell, Texas.
Matt is a graduate of Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. He holds a BA in Biology from Malone College, a BA in Wildlife Biology from the University of Alaska, and a M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary. He is a full elder in the Texas Annual Conference. His ministerial gifts include teaching, preaching, caring for people, visitation, and the gift of healing.
In his spare time, Matt and his family enjoy enjoy camping, hiking, geocaching, reading, gardening, and needlepoint.
The community is welcome to attend services at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday to meet and hear from the newest members to the Beverly community.
SUMMER READING WINDING DOWN
This week marks the final week for the summer reading program at the Beverly library. Completed reading and activity sheets for all age groups are due by Saturday, July 20 in order for readers to be eligible for the pool party on August 1 from 7 - 9 p.m. Treat bags, which include the admission pass for the pool party, will be available for pick up starting July 24.
The final week features these activities for all ages:
Monday evening, July 15 - Family Night at 5:30 p.m. including food, crafts, movies, stories, and games. Participating families can also enter the weekly drawing.
Tuesday, July 16 - Public speaker at 1 p.m. open to all ages. This week's topic is tracking
Wednesday, July 17 - Read-to-Me Story time at 11 a.m. features a craft, snack, story, and fun. Children ages 2-6 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult who will remain with them during the entire story time.
Thursday, July 18 - "Dirt Relay" for children in grades 1-5 at 1 p.m.
Friday, July 19 - "Vegan Food Tasting" at 1 p.m. is open for children in grades 6 - 12.
Adult readers are reminded their 20 hours of reading are also due by Jul 20.
July 20 is also the Saturday Book Club beginning at noon. Lunch is served with the club, which is open to all ages. This month's book is "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM WINDING DOWN
Just a few weeks remain for the Summer Feeding Program held at the playground beside the Beverly Pool on Fifth Street in Beverly, sponsored by the Washington Morgan Community Action. Reservations for meals Monday through Friday and the weekend meal packs must be called in to the center at (740) 373-3455. The Summer Food Program is free and open to all children ages 1 - 18 with a phoned reservation. Children must be present to receive the packed weekend meals.
