PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg area residents were given a dazzling fireworks show after a day's delay in Parkersburg City Park Friday night.
The fireworks were set off in the baseball fields of the park around 10 p.m. Friday. Hundreds of residents and those from surrounding areas gathered in the park for the show.
Rain delayed the fireworks until Friday; the show had been scheduled for July Fourth, Thursday.

Caitlyn Hall of Barlow and Logan McAllister of Little Hocking wanted to see the fireworks for the first time on Friday night, they said.
"We're from the area and knew about them," McAllister said. "We haven't seen them before."
Candra Duke is from Belpre and gathered in front of the baseball fields on a blanket to enjoy the show for the second time. She and her friend, Randi Scott of Parkersburg, said they were glad the fireworks show had a rain delay because it gave them the chance to get out and attend the show.
They would not have been able to attend Thursday night, Scott said.
"We're happy we could make it," she added. "We kind of came on a whim, hope they'd get rained out so we would get to see them."
Scott said she has seen the fireworks in the past and liked them.
Ron Reeder of Parkersburg was with his family to see the show, including his granddaughter, Alana.
"This is the first time she will understand watching them," he said of his granddaughter. "I like to bring her to things like this."
The family found a good spot to sit to see the show as hundreds of people flooded the park for the much anticipated light display.
