Charles Francis "Charlie" Kern, 64, of Marietta, died June 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1949, in Marietta, to Peter and Edna Walter Kern. He was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School and a 1971 graduate of Marietta College. Charlie had worked as a production supervisor and in Product Development for Johns Manville in Vienna, W.Va. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling with the grandchildren.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Barbara Miller Kern, they were married on May 15, 1970; two children, Minda Richards (Larry) of Lowell, and Russ Kern (Janine) of Little Hocking; four grandchildren, Allyssa and Mason Kern and Emma and Jonathan Richards; brother-in-law, James Miller of Marietta; sister-in-law, Pat Miller of Marietta; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-mother, Gertrude Kern.
Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Virgil Reischman as celebrant. Visitation will be at Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
