June 26, 2013
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

June E. Lay passed away suddenly on May 28, 2013, after a very brief hospital stay.

She had been a resident of the Glenwood Retirement Community of Marietta, Ohio, since 2007, where she and her many friends enjoyed one another's companionship and many a friendly bridge game.

June was born Nov. 30, 1918, and raised in Parkersburg, W.Va. She was extremely proud of having been an English teacher and a librarian at Parkersburg High School for more than 40 years. She was also a very enthusiastic WVU football fan.

She is survived by her son, W. Michael Lay; her grandson, Christopher Michael Lay; her granddaughter, Stacey Kim; and great-granddaughters, Laurel and Brooke Andrews.

Her beloved husband Bill passed away in 1996.

There will be a celebration of her life in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana St., Parkersburg, at 10 a.m. Saturday. From 2-5 p.m. Saturday, there will be a reception at the Glenwood Retirement Community, 200 Timberline Dr., Marietta, Ohio.

Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is assisiting the family with arrangements.

June was an avid member of PEO, an organization founded to support education of women. The family would like you to consider a donation to one of the PEO projects found on its web page at donations.peointernational.org
