Van Byron Fry, 62, of Parkersburg, passed away June 24, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born April 10, 1951, in Parkersburg, a son of Ethel Louise Braden Fry of Parkersburg, and the late Clyde Scott Fry.
Van graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1969 where he was active with football and track. In 1976, he graduated from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and had worked for Bonds Drug Store and for over 30 years with Rite Aid. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed sports, hunting and was active with two bowling leagues (Tuesday and Friday) at Emerson Lanes. Van was an animal lover and lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, Van is survived by his daughter, Sarah Mannix and husband, Matt, of Marietta; domestic partner, Becky Thorn; one aunt; one uncle; and several cousins.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.
