Charles Willard Kerns, 78, of Elizabeth, W.Va., died on June 21, 2013, at his son's residence in Little Hocking, Ohio.
He was born in Ritchie County, W.Va., on Dec. 31, 1934, and was the son of the late Paul Luther and Ivy Pearl Gordon Kerns.
He retired from Corning Glass in Parkersburg as an electrican. He was an Air Force veteran, and was a member of the AmVets, D.A.V., the Eagles and the NRA. He was also a life member of the Belpre Alumni Association. He was a charter member of the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department Squad and served on the Belpre Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kerns; two sons, Steve (Debbie) Kerns of Little Hocking and Mark (Tammie) Kerns of Vincent, Ohio; two daughters, Debbie (Joe) Robinson of Belpre and Sherrie (Rick) Dotson of Belpre; his grandchildren, Michael and Cody Kerns, Crystal Hutchinson, Heather Russell, Ethan and Brad Dotson, Cathy and Michelle Kerns, Ryan Robinson and Katrina Lucas; and his great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kade Hutchinson, Matthew Rollins, Jayden Rollins, Kina Engle, Cammi Kerns, Ravyn Lucas, Koeyn and Cason Robinson and his special little buddy, Josiah Kerns. Also surviving are his three brothers, Darrell Kerns of Parkersburg, Roger Kerns of Little Hocking, and Olis Kerns of Belpre.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Deloris Elizabeth Kerns; and a brother, Everett (Jink) Kerns.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Ken Fullerton officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today.
