Bob Hill, 59, passed peacefully on June 17, 2013, at home, with his wife and son by his side.
Born in Charleston, W.Va., and raised in Parkersburg, he graduated Class of '71 from Parkersburg High School and 10 years later, moved to the Columbus, Ohio area. For the past seven years, he lived in a tranquil area outside of Plain City, Ohio, with his wife Veronica.
Over 35 years ago, Bob started his career in the printing industry with humble beginnings as a press operator. With an innate thirst for knowledge, he continued to learn about various aspects of the industry and ways in which he could apply himself. At Southard Company, he developed a reputation as an honest, reliable and hard-working sales representative. He continued to refine his knowledge and skills as a technical sales representative at Enco Printing Products before becoming sales manager at The Murphy Company. When offered a regional sales manager position at Mid-States Graphics, Bob jumped at the opportunity. Not for selfish reasons but because he knew he would be a valuable asset to the company, something he took great pride in. Bob was well liked and highly respected in the industry. He was the "go to guy" to help address problems others couldn't solve. Bob often commented how touched he was by the support of his family as well as his close friends, many of which he's known for more than 30 years. Chuck and Joyce Crawford of Michigan, our dear friends, have become family over the years and their outpouring of support comforted Bob during his year-long fight with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Veronica (nee Yoho), and son, Jason (Linda) of Utah; brothers, Rick Hill (Gina) and Gib Casto (Robin) and sister, Barbara Nichols, all of Parkersburg; and brothers-in-law, Mark Yoho (Raquel) of California and Chris Meyer of Ohio. He is also survived by nieces, Tami Svacina (Brian), Angie Fritzsching (Allen) and Paige Yoho; nephews, Rocky Nichols, Ricky Hill, Chris Casto (Sara), Jon Kinney, Josh Yoho, Jake Yoho and Zach Yoho; and cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
He was preceded in death by parents, Kathleen Casto (nee McClanahan), Robert Hill and stepfather, Gib Casto Sr.
A celebration of life will be held on June 29. For details about the event, photos, donations and an opportunity to share your thoughts about Bob, visit roberthillmemorial.com
