Wilbur Howard Nester, 86, of Ravenswood, W.Va., departed this life on June 19, 2013, in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born on May 20, 1927, in Minden, W.Va., a son of the late John and Bertie Hylton Nester.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret; brothers, Harold, Ed, John and Randall; sisters, Georgia, Ruby, Mary and Ruth.
He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. in Ravenswood. He was a member of SOAR, Local Steelworkers Union 5668, and the NRA. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and watching Ravenswood High School sports and Ripley softball. He was a die-hard West Virginia University Mountaineer and Cincinnati Reds fan.
Surviving are his son, Frank Nester and wife Ann, Ravenswood, and their children, Jeremy Nester, Wheeling, W.Va., and Stefani Nester, Ravenswood; daughter, Mary Margaret Fisher and husband James, Hurricane, W.Va., and their children, Jill Schlup and husband Josh, and their children, Jonah, Lynsey and Landon, all of Birmingham, Ala.; son, Kyle Fisher and wife Jacquelyn, Hurricane, and their daughter, Isabella (Bella); and close friend and companion, Evelyn Chambers, Ravenswood.
Services will be held on Sunday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery with full graveside military rites provided by Ravenswood VFW Post 6669.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Saturday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to service on Sunday.
