Emerson Dean Stoneking, 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went to be with his Lord, after an extended illness, on June 15, 2013.
He was born in Braxton County, W.Va., a son of the late Forney Patrick and Edna Lenora (Rhodes) Stoneking.
He was a semi-truck driver for over 20 years, during which time he worked for Cook Motorlines, Ezor Express and Criss Concrete. He had been a member of Local 1975 Labor Union and Teamster Union. He sold life insurance for Equitable and Kemper Life. He was a charter member of Broadway Church of the Nazarene where he was very active in the bus ministry, a Sunday school teacher and a part-time song leader.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary "Jo" (Hill) Stoneking; two sons, Lloyd Stoneking (Ana) and Timothy Dean Stoneking (Lois), all of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Lynnette, Aaron, Sydney and Casey Stoneking; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kirsten and Zoe Stoneking; and a brother, Denzil Stoneking of Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Stoneking; four brothers, Victor, Harold, Hayward and the Rev. Paul Stoneking; and a sister, Helen Kilgore.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Dan Meek officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
