James Frank (Bo) Porter III, 62, of Palm Bay, Fla., passed away on June 7, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1950, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of James Frank Porter, Jr., and the late Virginia Holton Porter.
James graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1968 and received his degree in Civil Engineering Technology from W.Va. Tech in 1972. He retired in 2012 from the Orlando, Florida office of the HNTB Companies.
James is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rita Curry Porter; sons, Roy Smith of Palm Bay, Fla., Maj. (U.S. Army) Travis Smith of Vicenza, Italy, Clifton Porter of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Julie Smith of Palm Bay, Fla., seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his father, James Frank Porter, Jr. of Ravenswood; brother, Donald Porter of Yerington, Nev.; sisters, Sarah Lawrence of Mt. Airy, N.C., Patricia Cole of Bonlee, N.C., and several cousins who were dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Holton Porter.
A memorial service in Ravenswood will be announced at a later date. His cremated remains will be interred at his mother's grave in Ravenswood Cemetery.
