Forrest M. Cornes, 87, of the Wyngate Center in Parkersburg, formerly of Little Hocking, Ohio, died at the Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, on June 4, 2013.
He was born in Little Hocking, Ohio, on March 12, 1926, and was the son of the late Arthur Leo and Susie Belle Linscott Cornes. He retired from Young Plumbing and Heating after 40 years of service. He was a 50-year member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union # 565 in Parkersburg. He had attended the Little Hocking United Methodist Church. He was a WW II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Coolville Masonic Lodge, the Belpre Shrine Club, the Order of Eastern Star and had coached Little Hocking Little League.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca (Patrick) Hines of Belpre; his grandchildren, Christopher M. Thornton of Lugoff, S.C., and Jennifer Thornton of Marietta, Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Ann Cornes, and a daughter, Susan Marie Cornes Thornton.
Services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. L. Norman Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. There will be masonic services conducted by Coolville Lodge and military graveside rites.
