Donzil D. Davidson, Sr., 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 19, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, following a brief illness.
He was born March 25, 1926, at Burnt House, Ritchie County, W.Va., a son of the late Windfred and Sarah Smith Davidson. Donzil retired from the former Parkersburg Steel Company after 38 years of services as a die setter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and raising pigs over the years. He also enjoyed the harmonica, which he had a long-time talent playing.
Surviving is one daughter, Helen Hall; one son, James Davidson; one step-daughter, Joyce Gorrell; two step-sons, Charles and Michael Davis; one sister, Genevieve Prunty; two nieces, Janet Echard and Betty Byers; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife of 34 years, Lilly N. Taylor Davis Davidson; one son, Donzil D. Davidson, Jr.; and two brothers, Nobel Collins and Ray Barker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, with Mr. Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the funeral home.
