George C. Urbaniak, 65, of Brooklyn, N.Y., departed this life on April 1, 2013, at the Hearland Nursing Home in Marietta, Ohio, with his loving wife at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Nov. 15, 1947, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Yanak) Urbaniak.
George spent his life as a deeply loving and devoted husband and father. Nobody could ask for better. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a computer communications manager for the City of New York until he retired to Ritchie County, W.Va., with his beloved wife and son in 2003. During his free time, he was a talented and prolific writer who wrote three novels, many short stories and deeply spiritual inspirational works. He also enjoyed reading, cooking, fixing up his home, woodworking and cabinet making. For the most part, George enjoyed laughing and spending time with his beloved family and friends. He will be remembered most for his intelligence, talent, great sense of humor, deeply spiritual soul, kind heart and total love and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Joyce Urbaniak; and loving son, Robert Urbaniak.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Church, 232 Third St., Marietta, Ohio.
