Georgia Lee Kerns Burton, 83, of Ripley, went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2013, following a short illness.

She was born March 16, 1930, at Sandyville, a daughter of the late Ace and Verna Snyder Kerns.

She was a Christian by faith and was a loving mother and grandmother. She came from a very close family and loved spending time with all of them. She retired from Hercules Corporation in Delaware, and came home to be closer to her family. One of her favorite things to do was cook for her loved ones along with quilting. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful things for all of her family members over the years. She was most famous for her dish cloths. She had a wonderful heart and would do anything for anyone. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Patricia) Anderson of Stafford, Va., Dennis Anderson of Newark, Del., and Shirley Allen of Ripley; her grandchildren, Stacey Anderson, Brian Allen, John Anderson, Cindy and Todd Blackburn and Seth Zlinski; her pride and joy was her great-grandchildren, Ethan Anderson, Lexie Anderson and Emily Blackburn; and her loving and devoted sisters and brothers, Una Belle (Bill) Waskey, Mary Casto, Phyllis Grady, Ruth Kerns, Dorothy (Paul) Pyle, Joyce Coon, Clayton (Patsy) Kerns, John (Linda) Kerns and Don (Nellie) Snyder; her many nieces and nephews also survive. She also loved and adored two great-nieces, Britney and Holly George, and her niece who helped her with church, Sharon Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Kerns; and two grandsons, Christopher Anderson and Eric Allen.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Ripley Baptist Temple, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery on Joes Run, Sandyville. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
