Rose Roberta Jahahn, 87, of Parkersburg, died May 11, 2013, at Worthington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Dec. 13, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, "Mayme" was the youngest daughter of the late Ellian and Della Jahahn of Parkersburg.

She was educated at St. Francis Xavier Grade School through the eighth grade, and attended and graduated from Parkersburg High School. Rose pursued a career in the insurance industry and served nearly 40 years with the S. Byrl Ross Agency. She was well known for her dedication and loyalty to her career, family, friends and church.

A lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church since 1927, Rose was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Abdella, John Jahahn, Frances Corra, Albert Jahahn, Helen Jahahn and Mary Jahahn.

She took an active interest in all her nieces and nephews and is survived by Libby Stripling, Rosemary Arant, George Jahahn, the Rev. Peter Abdella, Ben Jahahn, Rick Jahahn, John Jahahn, Susie Taja, David Corra, Dianne Brown, Barbara Fligor, Michael Corra and Stephen Corra. "Mayme" also had several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A model citizen for all Americans of the "greatest generation," she was a child of the "melting pot" USA. From immigrant parents, she embraced, respected and participated in both the cultures of the old country and the new. Loved by friends and family members alike, her gregarious nature and welcoming heart touched the lives of many. She will be sorely missed.

Visitation is planned for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday with a Wake service at 7:30 p.m at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Parkersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Francis Xavier Church, 609 Market St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
