The Rev. Carl D. DeVaughn, 73, of St. Marys, W.Va., died May 11, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1940, in Mineral Wells, W.Va., a son of the late Charles Albert and Gertrude Miller DeVaughn.
He was a United Methodist minister, currently serving Harrison Street United Methodist Church in Harrisville, and also had served the Ellenboro Charge. He retired from Johns Manville after 34 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran in both Vietnam and Thailand. He was also an avid farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Winters DeVaughn; five children, Carl "Denny" DeVaughn of California, Sherry Marie Forshey of Pomeroy, Ohio, Steven Kelly DeVaughn of St. Marys, Kimberly Balderson of Parkersburg and Jeff Winters of Lubeck; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard DeVaughn of Palestine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. John Frum officiating. Burial will follow at Big Tygart Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
